Advanced Photovoltaics Center (APC)
|
-
APC focuses on disruptive and revolutionary technologies for photovoltaic power conversion based on non-traditional ultra-high efficiency, low cost solar cells
-
Research center leverages ASU’s large scale prototyping capabilities
-
Primary technologies presently being addressed:
–High efficient and flexible organic/inorganic hybrid solar cells
–Development of an efficient flexible hybrid solar cell having efficiency beyond 10%, that can be fabricated using roll-to-roll (or high throughput) technology
–Nanotechnology-based solar cells integrated with Si: quantum dot, nanowire, and nanocrystalline materials for multiple excitation and photonic cavity structures to enhance the efficiency of single junction cells
–Low cost, thin film, high efficiency multi-junction compound semiconductor solar cells
–Hybrid photovoltaic/thermoelectric energy conversion devices
